People associate meaning with products and they derive satisfaction by using the product. The product has a total personality, which is made up by the packaging, the brand name, the price, the label etc. For a marketer the total offering is the real tool in the hands of the marketer.

A Product is anything that satisfies a need or wants and can be offered in an exchange. To understand product, let us first discuss about needs, wants and demands. Need describes basic human requirements such as food, air, water, clothing or shelter.

First one the product may be totally new invention “new to the world” or a little modification of an existing product if companies want to reduce costs, improvements or repositions theirs products.

Another aspect are the Product lines, there are cataloged as a strategy to enlarge profits, a company with products lines use and has product mix, it has four dimensions, width, length, depth and consistency their classification depends on the number of the products or of the lines that a company has.
