Writing a bibliography apa

An APA format bibliography is an alphabetical listing of all sources that might be used to write a paper, essay, article or research paper. In some cases, your instructor may require you to hand in a bibliography with your final paper.

For dates, spell out the names of months in the text of your paper, but abbreviate them in the list of works cited, except for May, June, and July. Use either the day-month-year style (22 July 1999) or the month-day-year style (July 22, 1999) and be consistent.

Components of an Annotated Bibliography. An annotated bibliography is an APA reference list that includes a brief summary and analysis -- the annotation -- under the reference entry. An an n otated bibliography is composed of the full APA reference for a source followed by notes and commentary about that so urce.

Sample Bibliography: APA. The basic format for a book citation requires listing the author's name, the title of the book, the publisher's name, and the date of publication. Edited books, when cited in full, will list the editor's name instead of an author’s name.
